Lolla #16: Foxy Shazam

April 23, 2010

I’m jumping the order; #15 should be next.  But today I listened to Foxy Shazam in anticipation of posting them in due time, and I’d be remiss if I let you go one more day without hearing Foxy Shazam for the sake of some arbitrary arrangement.  I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve found a band so immediately and undeniably perfect.

Sounds like: Art.  Big and happy and huge and wow, goddamn yes [+10]

You can listen to them at:  Watch the video.  The video for “Oh Lord.”  I just voided a pomodoro because I think I have to count dancing in my chair as breaking concentration.  [+200]

Sample Lyric: “There is always a wrong to your right / and there will always be a war somewhere to fight / and god knows I’ve had some rough fuckin’ years / Ooh, oh lord / Oh Lord / keep on keepin’ on.” [oh, I am out of points]

I would rather see this band than: Watch Georgetown beat Syracuse.  In the Carrier Dome.  There, I said it.  Watch the video, and buy the album.  You can buy it directly from them, on their site.

Information I could have used *last* week. Literally. They were playing last Friday in Vancouver when I was sitting around on Friday night entertaining myself. So close…

I read this post and I was like alright, enough with the hyperbole, there are only two things better than watching Georgetown beating Syracuse in the Carrier Dome and neither has the ridiculous name of Foxy Shazam.

    I stand corrected.
